Role overview
This position sits within Google’s AI and Infrastructure organization and focuses on securing the infrastructure needed for future growth. The work centers on negotiating cost-effective agreements for critical infrastructure, with an emphasis on data center and digital infrastructure markets. You will partner with internal teams and external organizations to help shape regional development strategy and deliver infrastructure programs at scale.
The role involves working on mission-critical initiatives across India, with the option to indicate a preferred work location from Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Gurugram, or Hyderabad.
What you will do
- Handle sensitive projects with strong awareness of timing and business impact, while helping shape broader project plans.
- Act as the commercial point of contact between vendors and internal teams, and contribute to regional or market-level strategy for infrastructure development programs.
- Influence external partner strategy at an executive level and support negotiations that affect infrastructure expansion.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams such as tax, finance, legal, policy, and communications on economic development matters.
- Provide region-specific advisory support on economic development agreements, including terms review, tax implications, and infrastructure funding considerations.
What you need
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on practical experience.
- At least 6 years of experience in negotiations or business development.
- Experience working with internal cross-functional partners and outside stakeholders, including government bodies.
- Background in economic development topics such as direct or indirect taxation, tax policy, or infrastructure development.
- Experience in the local data center and digital infrastructure market.
Preferred background
- Exposure to data center location strategy or industrial strategy in India.
- Experience with power transmission and distribution, telecom infrastructure, data center technology, industrial electrical systems, cooling technology, or similar technical areas.
- Hands-on experience with colocation agreements, industrial site selection, real estate assessment, acquisition, development, construction, utility agreement management, energy testing, clean energy initiatives, or financial modelling.
- Experience working with real estate markets across APAC and setting up infrastructure in APAC countries.
- Familiarity with APAC economic development policy related to infrastructure transactions.
