Job description

Role Overview

The Data Analyst at London LGPS CIV Limited is responsible for performing data reconciliation and validation tasks to ensure timely and accurate data flows from key suppliers such as Custodian, Partner Funds, and Fund Managers. Positioned at the intersection of Investment, Operations, and Technology teams, the analyst ensures that reliable data supports portfolio management, reporting, net asset value (NAV) calculations, and strategic decisions across the organization.

Key Duties

  • Verify receipt of critical data feeds within specified timeframes and confirm data meets the needs of Investment and Operations departments.
  • Supervise incoming data streams from custodians and partners, promptly detecting and addressing delays, inconsistencies, or anomalies.
  • Oversee data dependencies throughout the investment cycle, raising awareness of risks or delays potentially affecting performance reporting and NAV computations.
  • Engage with data providers to troubleshoot and resolve feed reliability and quality concerns.
  • Develop strong partnerships with internal Investment, Operations, and Technology groups to align data requirements and identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Communicate data-related risks, trends, and root causes clearly to stakeholders with diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Conduct extensive validation, integrity verification, and investigate discrepancies, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring data issues collaborating with service providers and internal teams to implement preventative measures.
  • Assist in creating and integrating data quality metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to monitor organizational data health.
  • Contribute to establishing scalable and repeatable data management procedures as part of the new data capabilities within the organization.
  • Provide input on workflow designs, documentation, and controls to reduce operational complexity for investment and operations teams.
  • Support the design and continuous development of data quality frameworks, exploring tools such as Microsoft Purview and Azure API Management.
  • Collaborate closely with Investment teams to ensure data workflows meet analytical, reporting, and portfolio management objectives.
  • Maintain a proactive and delivery-driven approach, managing daily responsibilities independently while seeking guidance as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in an investment management environment with a solid grasp of investment and operational data.
  • Practical exposure to conducting data quality assessments, reconciliations, and resolving data discrepancies.
  • Competence in managing and resolving data issues involving external data sources and service providers.
  • Clear understanding of the impact of data quality on performance, NAV, reporting, and investment decision-making.
  • A practical, results-oriented attitude focused on alleviating operational burdens and supporting new data function development.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Experience implementing data quality frameworks, particularly with Microsoft Purview.
  • Knowledge of data quality concepts and governance structures.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview and Azure API Management tools.
  • Ability to monitor and present data quality KPIs.
  • Experience developing APIs using Azure API Management.
