Role Overview
The New Product Introduction team at Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada is seeking a Data Analyst to collaborate with Operations and Process teams. The role focuses on automating production controls, value stream mapping, and collecting and analyzing OEE metrics such as cycle time, yield rates, and downtime. This position requires engagement with advanced statistical methods, automating data workflows, managing databases, and developing live dashboards that facilitate quick, data-driven decisions related to Tesla Energy product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Study operational, equipment, process, safety, and quality datasets to extract statistical insights that improve overall production efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with engineers to conduct comprehensive analyses — from gathering data requirements to processing and modeling data.
- Track pivotal operational and process indicators, investigating root causes behind metric fluctuations.
- Interpret complex data using statistical methods and prepare consistent reporting outputs.
- Detect and analyze trends in complex datasets, presenting findings through dashboards and detailed reports.
- Maintain and upgrade current data visualizations, automate and enhance data pipelines, and fulfill dashboard enhancement requests.
- Source data from primary and secondary systems and uphold databases to support operational performance excellence.
- Perform rigorous data validation to guarantee the data aligns with business expectations and complies with confidentiality policies.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Engineering or a comparable field or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, C++, and MATLAB.
- Experience working with diverse data architectures, including SQL, NoSQL, and statistical tools like R.
- Skillful in data visualization and cleansing platforms like Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, or Alteryx.
- Understanding of manufacturing-related information systems such as SAP, MES, and SCADA.
- Ability to perform under pressure while balancing multiple priorities and working collaboratively within tight deadlines.
- Capability to transition predictive models into live production environments.
