Job description

Role overview

This long-term contract role places you with the Product Development, Licensing, and Branding group of a major Fortune 100 retailer in Framingham, MA. In this position, you’ll combine analytical thinking with data strategy to help modernize legacy reporting systems and support executive-level decision-making. The work centers on moving data from older Access-based environments into SQL-driven structures and building Power BI dashboards that turn large datasets into practical business insight.

The schedule is hybrid, with on-site work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and fully remote flexibility during quarter-end periods. The assignment is also described as having strong potential to convert into a longer-term opportunity.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of the transition from legacy Microsoft Access databases into a robust SQL data mart, with a focus on accuracy and data quality.
  • Create, enhance, and support interactive Power BI dashboards that surface key performance information for varied business users.
  • Work through very large and complex datasets, including purchase orders and contract terms, using advanced SQL to uncover patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal partners across functions to understand data needs and deliver business intelligence solutions that fit those needs.
  • Prepare and share analytical reports and performance summaries for leadership and brand partners to inform brand strategy and related decisions.
  • Document new workflows and provide light user training so the broader team can make effective use of the dashboards and processes you build.

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or another highly analytical corporate operations role.
  • Strong command of SQL, including database development, complex querying, and data transformation work.
  • Hands-on experience creating Power BI dashboards from the ground up, along with practical experience using Microsoft Access and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to turn detailed data findings into clear business recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • An organized, accountable approach to work, plus a solid focus on automation and process efficiency.
  • U.S. work authorization without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Why this opportunity stands out

  • You will contribute directly to the analytical work that supports brand performance and contract oversight for a global retail organization.
  • The role offers valuable experience leading an Access-to-SQL migration, which can strengthen your background in modern data architecture.
  • You’ll benefit from a predictable hybrid setup, with fixed in-office days and fully remote flexibility during quarter-end crunch periods.
  • This is positioned as a long-term contract with a meaningful pathway toward future conversion.

Compensation

The assignment includes a competitive hourly rate, aligned with your background in database development and business intelligence.
