Data Analyst for Office of Business, Community, and Government Engagement

Position Overview

The University of Texas at El Paso seeks a Data Analyst to support the Office of Business, Community, and Government Engagement by managing and interpreting data related to employer engagement, workforce trends, student participation, and institutional results. Reporting to the Data Analytics Manager, this role involves ensuring accurate data maintenance, improving workflows, generating reports and dashboards, and developing reporting tools that guide continuous enhancement of engagement strategies.

Working Hours and Location

This is a full-time, on-site position in El Paso, Texas, requiring 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role is exempt under FLSA guidelines, and the earliest start date is as soon as possible.

Core Responsibilities

• Create and refine reports, dashboards, data sets, and models to meet operational and institutional reporting needs.
• Gather, clean, validate, and merge data from diverse sources including employer activities, student involvement, internships, and post-graduation outcomes.
• Develop and maintain repeatable reporting processes and workflows to enhance the reliability and efficiency of recurring reports.
• Detect and address data quality problems and identify reporting gaps while recommending improvements for data accuracy and usability.
• Generate routine reports and data summaries to aid planning, assessment, and decision-making efforts within the Office.
• Support labor market and workforce data gathering and analysis to inform employer engagement strategies.
• Ensure data entry accuracy and thorough documentation in CRM and related databases.
• Develop and update visual data displays and dashboards using Power BI or similar visualization platforms to present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Data Analytics Manager and campus partners to convert operational inquiries into actionable metrics, reporting solutions, and analytics outputs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent education and experience combination.
• Experience in data collection, management, reporting, visualization, or business intelligence processes.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, reporting tools, or analytics platforms to organize, analyze, and communicate data derived from various sources.
• Preferred qualifications include degrees in data analytics, business analytics, statistics, economics, public policy, or related fields.
• Experience creating dashboards, reports, or automated reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or analogous platforms.
• Familiarity with SQL querying and managing relational databases for data extraction and analysis.
• Competency with CRM, enterprise, career platforms, or student information systems to facilitate operational reporting.
• Experience supporting system implementations, integrations, or process improvements.
• Background in higher education, workforce development, employer engagement, or institutional research environments is advantageous.
• Knowledge of labor market and workforce data sources and a strong interest in utilizing these insights to bolster employer engagement.
• Strong communication skills to effectively translate technical data concepts for audiences with varying levels of expertise.

Additional Information

The position is security-sensitive under Texas Education Code 51.215, requiring criminal history checks and, if necessary, a valid driver’s license and insurability. The role may involve research or access to critical infrastructure following Executive Order GA-48.

Physical requirements include the ability to sit, use hands, reach arms, occasionally stand, walk, talk, hear, and regularly lift or move objects up to 50 lbs. The work environment is a standard office setting with moderate noise levels.
