Role Overview

Join Canadian Tire Corporation as a Data Analyst within the Center of Excellence & Data Analytics team, contributing to audit-related projects by performing comprehensive data analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with audit teams to comprehend audit goals, understand business workflows, data necessities, and reporting requirements.
  • Create and implement data analytic processes for audit assignments, including control testing, analysis of data populations, exception identification, and spotting patterns.
  • Prepare and communicate analytic findings in a clear manner accessible to both technical experts and non-technical audiences.
  • Extract, clean, convert, and analyze datasets through SQL, Python, and Excel to back audit testing and evaluate risks.
  • Detect unusual data points, trends, outliers, and signs of potential risks through advanced analytic techniques.
  • Develop and upkeep dashboards, reports, and visual data presentations utilizing Power BI.
  • Design reusable scripts, templates, and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and standardize analytics.
  • Employ Power Automate to streamline workflows, reporting tasks, and repetitive analytics functions.
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancement of Internal Audit’s data analytics tools, techniques, and capabilities.
  • Utilize platforms like KNIME for supporting data prep, analytics pipelines, and automation where feasible.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a similar discipline.
  • Between 3 and 5 years' experience in data analytics, auditing, risk management, or related areas.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI, and Power Automate.
  • Familiarity with KNIME, Azure Synapse, or Copilot Studio considered advantageous.
  • Strong skills in data visualization with the ability to present findings clearly and relevantly to business stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical aptitude coupled with attention to detail and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Capability to handle both structured and unstructured data from diverse sources and translate business questions into analytical output.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively explain technical subjects to non-technical colleagues.
  • Understanding of audit procedures, risk management frameworks, internal controls, and operational processes.

Location is Toronto, Ontario with a hybrid work setup requiring on-site presence four days each week.
