Job description

Role overview

Bell Hill Dairy is looking for a practical, motivated dairy farm assistant to join the team for a fixed period from 1 July 2026 to 18 December 2026. This is a hands-on position based in the Greymouth / Lake Brunner area of the West Coast, where you will work in a supportive, high-performing environment and gain experience across a wide range of dairy farming tasks.

The role offers a chance to build solid farming skills while contributing to a collaborative team. You will be involved in day-to-day farm work on a progressive property that values learning, shared responsibility, and strong standards in animal care and safety.

Farm details

Bell Hill Dairy is a modern dairy operation in the scenic Greymouth / Lake Brunner region. The farm milks 900 cows through a 60-bail rotary shed and covers 505 hectares in total, with 450 hectares effective. The property features humped and hollowed terrain and supports efficient large-scale dairy production.

The employer is Pāmu Landcorp Farming Limited, a State-Owned Enterprise operating more than 110 farms across New Zealand with a focus on sustainable and innovative agriculture for future generations.

What the job involves

You will support a variety of farm tasks, from milking and calving to feeding stock, spraying, and general work around the farm. The position also provides exposure to shed operations and animal health management, with the opportunity to learn how a progressive dairy farm is run.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, likes practical work, and wants to grow their career in an environment that supports development and teamwork.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant is upbeat, willing to get stuck in, and keen to contribute to the success of the farm team. You should be comfortable working both on your own and alongside others, and be interested in building your farming knowledge.

Additional information

The position comes with accommodation. You will be supplied with quality PPE, work with well-maintained modern equipment, and be part of a workplace with a strong health and safety culture.

Applications are being reviewed as they come in, and the closing date is midnight on Sunday 28 June 2026. For further details, contact Ben Kiddle, Farm Manager, at kiddleb@landcorp.co.nz.

To be considered, you must be available for an in-person interview and have unrestricted legal permission to work in New Zealand. Temporary work visa holders are not eligible for this permanent opportunity. The successful applicant will also need to pass a drug and alcohol test and a criminal background check before appointment.

Pāmu values being Grounded, Genuine, Bold, and Shoulder-to-Shoulder. The company notes that successful applicants will be employed by Landcorp Farming Limited, which is the legal entity behind the Pāmu brand.

Benefits

This fixed-term role offers a competitive salary package and includes health insurance, life insurance, enhanced parental leave, up to 4% KiwiSaver matching, an extra day of leave over Christmas, ongoing training and development, and accommodation.
