Role overview
The Central Washington University Athletics Department is looking for a Creative Media Graduate Assistant to support external communications and help shape the visual voice of CWU Intercollegiate Athletics. The department serves the athletic, academic, and personal development needs of more than 400 student-athletes competing in 11 sports.
Working alongside marketing, communications, and video staff, this position plays a key part in building the Wildcat brand across digital channels, including social media, livestreams, WildcatSports.com, and in-venue video board presentations. The role is centered on creative storytelling, multimedia production, and digital engagement.
This graduate assistantship is intended to provide practical experience for someone aiming for a future career in sports creative services, athletic communications, or digital marketing.
Engagement details
This is a two-year graduate assistant position that includes a tuition waiver and stipend. The assignment runs from September through June each academic year. Responsibilities
- Plan, shoot, edit, and deliver polished video content such as hype pieces, athlete profiles, short documentaries, and social media reels.
- Create digital graphics for game-day promotion, awards, recruiting, and corporate partner campaigns.
- Develop digital marketing ideas that strengthen fan interaction, drive ticket sales, and expand brand visibility.
- Review analytics and platform trends to improve content results and extend audience reach.
- Build and run visual and motion graphic elements for stadium and arena video boards during live events.
- Collect live photo, video, and social coverage during home athletic competitions.
- Support the preparation, execution, and post-event removal of creative digital assets on game days.
- Coordinate undergraduate creative interns, including photographers and videographers, to ensure complete event coverage.
- Take on additional duties and special projects as assigned.
