Role Overview

The Customs Compiler is responsible for preparing customs clearance declarations ensuring compliance with national regulations and company policies. This role involves managing shipment classification and valuation for import and export goods to ensure smooth customs processing on international borders. The person in this position is expected to enhance service quality, improve operational workflows, and maintain timely communication updates aligned with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle daily documentation from initial assessment through to entry pre-lodgment, including communication with clients and networks to fill information gaps while following specific processing procedures and using advanced technology within internal KPIs.
  • Operate autonomously to review and respond to emails timely, liaise effectively with clients, Customs, DAFF, and internal colleagues to complete entries within the company's service level standards.
  • Perform tariff classification and valuation reviews, maintaining accurate storage of supporting documentation.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Minimum of one year experience classifying diverse product ranges.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of government customs regulations.
  • Strong background in quarantine clearance, including processing through COLS and familiarity with BMSB measures.
  • Understanding of international freight shipping terms.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and interpersonal communication.
  • Proficient oral and written communication capabilities.
