Its work includes customs clearance, freight forwarding, haulage, and trade advisory services. The company coordinates closely with the Jamaica Customs Agency to help ensure shipments are handled efficiently and in line with local requirements, with a focus on dependable and timely service.
Role Overview
The Customs Broker Clerk / Administrative Assistant will support both office administration and customs processing activities. This position is based in Kingston, Jamaica and is a full-time, on-site role.
Key Duties
- Deliver day-to-day administrative and office assistance to keep operations running smoothly.
- Process customs import entries in the ASYCUDA system and keep records accurate and up to date.
- Draft invoices, formal business communications, and other office documents.
- Support documentation and customs procedures related to vehicle imports.
- Track import entries and follow through to help ensure prompt clearance and delivery.
- Communicate with clients, customs officials, shipping agents, and other parties about shipment progress and document needs.
- Keep an eye on pending transactions and share timely updates with management and clients.
- Handle additional brokerage, administrative, and operational tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or similar qualification is required.
- Training or certification in Business Administration, Logistics, Customs Administration, or a related area is considered an advantage.
- Hands-on knowledge of the ASYCUDA system is necessary.
- Strong working ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is needed.
- Excellent organization, communication, and multitasking abilities are expected.
- Careful attention to accuracy and detail is essential.
- The role requires the ability to work on your own and manage deadlines effectively.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Experience with customs import procedures, documentation requirements, and vehicle importation processes is beneficial. Strong customer service skills and consistent follow-up are also desirable.
