Overview

At United Airlines, this role is centered on helping customers have a smooth and positive journey while contributing to a respectful, welcoming airport environment. You will represent the airline at the airport, support travelers on both domestic and international routes, and handle a variety of service tasks with professionalism and care.

Key duties

  • Process passenger check-in and handle baggage acceptance for flights.
  • Verify that travelers have the correct documents required for departure.
  • Assist with boarding, arrivals, and departures as needed.
  • Support passengers in outdoor airport areas, including work in heat, rain, and snow.
  • Operate on the ramp and support baggage service tasks, including lifting bags up to 25 kg on occasion.
  • Carry out manual handling of aircraft doors when required.
  • Work at the transfer counter and in the United Club lounge.
  • Take on other customer service tasks based on operational needs to keep airport operations running smoothly.
  • Provide courteous, confident, and helpful service to both internal teams and external customers.

Employment terms

This role follows local employment terms and conditions. Visa sponsorship is not available, including for expatriate assignments or employees holding time-limited visas.

The listed starting pay is €40,911 per year for a full-time schedule of 38.5 hours per week. Pay will be adjusted proportionately if actual hours differ from the full-time schedule. Final placement within the pay range depends on objective factors such as experience, qualifications, and relevant skills.

Salary history will not be requested or considered during hiring. The company also uses a standard incentive structure for eligible employees and provides country-specific benefits aligned with local requirements.

Minimum qualifications

  • Secondary school completion, such as a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Demonstrated dependability and consistent attendance.
  • Professional personal presentation and appearance.
  • Strong customer service capability.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Fluency in both English and German, written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel to other countries for training.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, and a 7-day/24-hour schedule when operations require it.
  • Legal authorization to work in Germany/EU for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of the interview process.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance, which is an essential part of the role.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience in airport operations, especially with United Airlines.
  • Valid German driving licence.
  • Knowledge of additional European languages.
