Role overview
As a Customer Service Assistant in the Retail department, you will report to the Shop Manager and be based at Wolftone Street, Limerick. The role is centered on delivering an excellent customer experience through a welcoming, helpful, and well-informed approach. You will support the Shop Manager and wider team in keeping the store running smoothly, maintaining high standards throughout the day, handling bet placements and payouts, and providing strong customer service. The position also includes opening and closing responsibilities, and at times you may take charge of the shop’s day-to-day operations.
Core responsibilities
- Support the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager with the daily operation of the shop.
- Take over and direct shop activity when the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager are not present.
- Handle opening and closing duties.
- Lead and support the shop team when required.
- Carry out cash management tasks in line with procedure.
- Deliver a consistently strong customer experience through a friendly, knowledgeable, and supportive manner.
- Process customer bets accurately and promptly across available channels, including betting terminals and in-store EPOS transactions.
- Represent the brand positively and help introduce customers to the company’s digital and multi-channel offerings.
- Stay calm and effective in a busy environment while looking for ways to improve personal performance and shop standards.
- Maintain a high standard of shop presentation across the working day.
- Follow all required procedures relating to safety, compliance, and shop operations.
- Work well as part of a team and contribute positively to the workplace culture.
- Observe social responsibility obligations at all times.
- Promote in-shop and online products and services to customers.
Skills and experience
This position suits someone who is customer-focused, trustworthy, adaptable, and confident working in a fast-paced retail setting. Strong numeracy, attention to detail, good communication, and dependable cash handling are important. You should also be able to work independently, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively, and build rapport with customers. An interest in sport and sporting events is beneficial. Retail or betting industry experience is welcome but not essential because full training is provided.
