Job description

About the employer

GMHBA is a member-focused, not-for-profit health insurer that has been serving people for 90 years. The organisation is known for its supportive workplace, flexible approach, and community-minded culture, with a strong focus on making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Role overview

GMHBA is hiring a friendly and driven Customer Service Advisor to join the Warrnambool team. This position suits someone who enjoys helping people, works well in a busy customer-facing setting, and wants a role that offers variety and purpose.

The role is scheduled for 4 days per week, with 8 hours each day from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, including a 30-minute lunch break. Saturday roster coverage will be required as needed.

What you’ll do

You will act as a welcoming representative of GMHBA, creating positive experiences for members while helping them navigate the organisation’s health and wellbeing products and services. The role involves working closely with members and contributing to a team environment that values service, learning, and community impact.

What GMHBA is looking for

The ideal candidate has a background in customer service or another team-oriented environment, along with strong communication and relationship-building abilities. A proactive mindset, a positive attitude, and the confidence to manage several tasks at once are also important. Good attention to detail is essential.

Nice to have

Experience in retail or a regulated private health insurance environment will be an advantage. Prior sales experience and the ability to work toward targets are also beneficial.

Perks and benefits

GMHBA offers discounted health insurance, access to health and wellbeing services, paid parental leave and secondary carer leave, time off to volunteer, employee discounts, purchased leave, an Employee Assistance Program for employees and their immediate family, health checks, flu vaccinations, training and coaching, ongoing career development, recognition programs, and quarterly values awards.

Additional information

Applicants who feel they are a strong match are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every requirement. The recruitment process is open until Friday, 26 June 2026. Questions about the role or recruitment process can be directed to the careers team at careers@gmhba.com.au.

Diversity and inclusion

GMHBA says it is committed to building a workplace where people from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences feel respected, valued, and able to show up as their authentic selves. The organisation believes diversity strengthens its culture and helps it better support members, patients, and communities.
