Customer Delivery Driver Westport (30-35 Hours)

About the role

Tesco is looking for Customer Delivery Drivers to join its Westport team. The role plays a key part in giving Irish shoppers a better everyday experience, with drivers often being the first company representative customers meet.

This is a hands-on, active role with plenty of variation from one shift to the next. Most of the day is spent working independently on deliveries, while still having access to support from managers and colleagues at the base when needed.

Shift pattern: a range of shifts is available.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a strong home-shopping experience by placing customers at the centre of every interaction.
• Load the van when needed and make sure it is roadworthy before setting off.
• Follow the route and schedule planned for each delivery run.
• Wear the correct uniform and be ready to assist customers professionally.
• Drive safely, responsibly, and in line with road traffic laws.
• Show courtesy to all other road users.
• Greet customers politely and, where appropriate, by name.
• Handle deliveries carefully and treat customer goods with the same care as your own.

Requirements

• A full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, held for at least 2 years.
• No more than 3 penalty points on the driving licence.
• A strong record of safe and considerate driving.
• A genuine interest in helping others.
• A friendly, approachable manner with a good sense of humour and strong communication skills.
• The confidence to use common sense and take initiative.
• A customer- and colleague-focused mindset.
• The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.

Additional conditions

As part of hiring, any offer depends on Garda Vetting. Candidates must also provide proof of current penalty points at assessment stage, which can be requested from the National Driver Licence Services (NDLS) by calling 1890 41 61 41, choosing option 4, and quoting the driver number.

Applications cannot be accepted from anyone who has been disqualified from driving within the last 10 years.

If successful, the candidate must provide bank account details before the agreed start date, as the offer is conditional on that information being supplied.
