Job description

About the Role

As a Customer Delivery Driver, you will be the visible representative of Tesco during deliveries, visiting customers at their homes every day. This role is diverse and physically active, requiring a friendly demeanor and excellent service skills. You will generally work independently on the road, supported by a team at the store as needed.

Working Hours

  • Sunday: 08:00 to 19:00
  • Monday: 09:00 to 19:00
  • Tuesday: 14:00 to 23:00
  • Wednesday: 14:00 to 23:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your delivery van, trays, and workspace to ensure customers receive grocery orders in excellent condition.
  • Safely load the van and conduct all necessary checks to confirm the vehicle is fit for road use and dependable for daily deliveries.
  • Communicate proactively with customers about any adjustments to their orders, such as substitutions or short-dated products, providing refunds to ensure a seamless delivery experience.
  • Handle all products with care to preserve quality and uphold customer trust.
  • Deliver orders punctually within the allocated customer time slot, offering warm and personable service at the door to make customers feel appreciated.

Candidate Requirements

  • Establish positive relationships with teammates to foster a cooperative work environment and optimize customer service.
  • Display a friendly and approachable attitude towards customers and coworkers alike.
  • Adapt swiftly to evolving customer demands and embrace changes while on route and at the store.
  • Possess a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) held for at least 12 months, with no more than three penalty points.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly pay starting at 14.18 rising to 15.45 within stores located in the M25 area; some regions may offer extra bonuses.
  • A minimum guaranteed commitment of 16 hours per week, with some opportunities beginning at 12 hours per week.
  • Starting holiday entitlement of 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after one year, along with bank holidays.
