Customer Delivery Driver - Tesco Great Notley Superstore

Role Overview

As the public face of Tesco on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers provide personal delivery services directly to customers' homes. This position involves much more than simply driving; it focuses on offering excellent customer service with a friendly attitude. The work is physically engaging, varied, and requires independent responsibility throughout the day, while support from managers and colleagues remains accessible from base.

Working Hours

• Saturdays: 09:00 to 19:00
• Sundays: 13:00 to 23:00

Key Duties

• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and work environment to ensure customers receive their orders in pristine condition.
• Safely loading the delivery van and performing all necessary checks to guarantee its safe and reliable operation.
• Communicating clearly and politely with customers regarding any changes to their orders, substitutions, or approaching expiry dates, including offering refunds when appropriate to maintain smooth and positive experiences.
• Handling goods attentively, treating each delivery as if it were your own to preserve quality and customer confidence.
• Delivering orders within the customer's specified time window, providing welcoming and natural interaction at the doorstep to make customers feel valued and cared for.

Candidate Requirements

• Ability to foster strong workplace relationships helping build a cohesive team spirit that contributes to excellent customer service.
• Warmth and friendliness towards both customers and colleagues at all times.
• Adaptability and responsiveness to customer needs and operational changes while working on the road and at the store.
• Possess a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (either full or automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly pay starting at £14.18, increasing up to £15.45 for stores located within the M25 area; some stores may offer additional payments.
• A guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week, with availability for roles from 12 hours weekly.
• Holiday entitlement beginning at 20 days plus a personal day, rising to 22 days after a year, plus Bank Holidays.
