About the role
As a Customer Delivery Driver, you’ll represent Tesco at customers’ homes and be responsible for more than just transporting shopping. The job combines safe driving with friendly, reliable service and everyday customer care. It is a practical, physical role with a lot of variety, and no two shifts are the same. Most of the day is spent working independently, while a management team and colleagues at the base are available to support you when needed.
Availability window
- Monday: 16:00 to 23:00
- Tuesday: 16:00 to 23:00
- Wednesday: 17:00 to 23:00
- Friday: 09:00 to 19:00
- Saturday: 09:00 to 19:00
Pay and hours
Hourly pay begins at £14.18, and increases to £15.45 in stores within the M25. Some locations may also include extra payments. The role comes with a guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week, although 12-hour positions are also available.
Key duties
- Keep the van, trays, and working area clean, orderly, and ready so that shopping arrives in excellent condition.
- Load the vehicle safely and carry out the necessary checks to make sure it is roadworthy and prepared for delivery.
- Explain order changes, substitutions, and short-dated products clearly and courteously, and process refunds where required.
- Handle every item carefully and protect product quality throughout the delivery process.
- Arrive within the agreed delivery slot and provide warm, professional service at the customer’s door.
What you need to bring
- Ability to work closely with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
- A friendly, approachable, and welcoming manner with customers and teammates.
- Flexibility to respond quickly to changing customer needs while working in-store and on the road.
- A valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence for at least 12 months, either full or automatic.
- No more than 3 penalty points on your driving licence.
