Job description
Role Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver at Tesco in Kingsteignton, you will be the primary representative of the company on the roads, delivering groceries directly to customers' homes. This position extends beyond driving duties to include providing excellent customer service with a friendly demeanor. The role is physically active, hands-on, and varied, with largely independent working hours supported by managers and colleagues at the base when needed.
Work Schedule
- Sunday: 09:00 to 19:00
- Tuesday: 18:00 to 22:00
- Thursday: 18:00 to 22:00
- Saturday: 09:00 to 16:30
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness, tidiness, and organization of your van, trays, and work environment to ensure customers receive their orders in excellent condition.
- Load the delivery van safely and perform all necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and reliable for service.
- Communicate clearly and positively with customers regarding any changes to their orders, including substitutions or short-dated items, and manage refunds to ensure a smooth customer experience.
- Handle all products carefully, treating each order as if it were your own to uphold quality and build customer trust.
- Deliver orders punctually within the allocated customer time slots, providing warm and genuine interaction at the doorstep, leaving customers feeling valued.
Requirements
- Establish strong, positive working relationships with colleagues to foster teamwork and deliver outstanding service.
- Be friendly and approachable with both customers and team members.
- Adapt quickly to changing customer needs and embrace flexibility while on the road and at the store.
- Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence (full or automatic) with at least 12 months of experience and no more than 3 penalty points.
