About the role
As a Customer Delivery Driver, you represent Tesco at customers’ doorsteps and in their homes. The job is not limited to driving; it also includes friendly customer service and helping shoppers receive a smooth, positive experience. The work is practical, physically active, and varied, with different tasks on each shift. Most of the day is spent working independently, while managers and colleagues are available for support at the base.
Availability window
You may be scheduled during the following times: Sunday 14:00 to 19:00, Monday 09:00 to 19:00, Tuesday 09:00 to 19:00, Friday 09:00 to 19:00, and Saturday 14:00 to 22:00.
Pay and hours
Hourly pay begins at £14.18, increasing to £15.45 in stores located within the M25. Some sites may include extra payments. A minimum of 16 hours per week is guaranteed, although 12-hour roles may also be available.
Responsibilities
- Keep the van, trays, and work area clean, orderly, and ready so that every customer receives shopping in excellent condition.
- Load the vehicle safely and carry out the required checks to make sure it is safe, reliable, and ready for deliveries.
- Explain substitutions, order changes, or short-dated products to customers in a clear and reassuring way, and process refunds where needed.
- Handle every item carefully and protect the quality of each order as though it were your own.
- Deliver within the promised time slot and provide warm, professional service at the customer’s door.
Requirements
- Ability to work well with colleagues and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
- A friendly, approachable manner with both customers and teammates.
- Comfort with change and the ability to respond quickly to shifting customer needs while working in-store and on the road.
- A valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence (full or automatic) held for at least 12 months.
- No more than 3 penalty points on the driving licence.

Availability and working pattern notes
The role requires availability across selected daytime and evening windows across Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. The position is on-site and involves working on the road as part of daily duties.
