About the role

Tesco is recruiting Customer Delivery Drivers to be the friendly, reliable first point of contact for customers receiving home shopping deliveries. The role is active, varied, and physically involved, with each shift bringing different customer needs and routes. While you work independently on the road for much of the day, you remain backed by managers and colleagues at base whenever support is needed.

Shift pattern: a range of shifts is available.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver a strong home shopping experience by keeping the customer central to every action.
  • Load the delivery van when needed and ensure the vehicle is roadworthy before setting off.
  • Follow the planned route and schedule provided for your shift.
  • Represent the company well by wearing the correct uniform and being ready to assist customers.
  • Drive safely, responsibly, and in line with all road traffic laws.
  • Be considerate and polite to everyone using the road.
  • Greet customers warmly, including using their name where appropriate.
  • Handle each delivery carefully and treat customer orders with the same care as your own.

Requirements

  • A full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, held for at least 2 years.
  • No more than 3 penalty points on the licence.
  • A safe, responsible, and courteous driving style.
  • A genuine interest in helping others.
  • A friendly manner, good humour, and strong communication skills.
  • The confidence to use common sense and take initiative.
  • A commitment to making a positive difference for customers and coworkers.
  • The ability to remain composed in pressured situations.
  • Willingness to undergo Garda Vetting as part of the hiring process.
  • Ability to provide current penalty point evidence at assessment stage.
  • Applicants must not have been disqualified from driving within the last 10 years.
  • Successful candidates must provide bank account details before the agreed start date.
