Job description
Job Overview
The Special Projects Department is looking to hire a permanent, full-time Custodian to join the nightshift team at the Hamilton Temple located in Waikato, New Zealand. This position reports directly to the Custodial Supervisor and plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanctity, and appearance of the temple's interior and its auxiliary buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned areas to established cleanliness and maintenance standards to ensure a sacred and welcoming environment.
- Handle removal and replacement of items such as draperies, chandeliers, and lights; assist in preparing meeting rooms as needed.
- Maintain positive relations with the public and promptly report any issues or concerns to the supervisor.
- Use cleaning agents and chemicals safely while wearing appropriate protective equipment such as gloves and masks.
- Operate motorized custodial equipment including buffers, vacuum cleaners, and carpet cleaners efficiently and safely.
- Utilize hand and motorized tools as required for tasks.
Qualifications and Skills
- Physical ability to lift up to 23 kilograms, push loaded carts, and perform activities requiring bending, crawling, and reaching.
- Proficient understanding of custodial procedures, supplies, and use of equipment.
- Basic English communication skills for general interaction, safety comprehension, and training modules.
- Capability to comprehend both verbal and written instructions and ask clarifying questions.
- Completion of safety and equipment training is mandatory.
