Custodian

Position Overview

The Custodian role within the UAH Facilities & Operations department plays an essential part in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of university buildings. This full-time position operates during the hours of 10:00 AM to 6:45 PM and involves various cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure campus facilities meet high standards of hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, common areas, entryways, elevators, stairwells, and other designated spaces.
• Conduct thorough inspections of cleaning assignments, repeating tasks as necessary to reach acceptable cleanliness levels.
• Remove trash and recycling from all receptacles.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and supplies in a secure and clean condition when not in use for prolonged usability.
• Keep custodial storage spaces tidy and safe at all times.
• Deliver excellent customer service by courteously greeting campus community members, communicating area closures effectively, promptly reporting concerns to supervisors, and treating others with respect.
• Adhere to industry safety practices and regulations diligently.
• Use personal protective gear properly and operate cleaning equipment safely in line with training.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Physical capability to safely operate all required cleaning equipment is essential.
• Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $29,000 to $31,200 annually.
