Job Overview
We are seeking a Curriculum Specialist to join our Upper Primary English team, focusing on grades 4 to 6. The role involves designing, developing, and producing quality curriculum materials, including lesson plans and teacher guides that uphold our institution's reputation for high-quality and competitive academic enrichment services.
This position reports to the Upper Primary segment head. As the lead curriculum developer, responsibilities include managing the creation and review of lesson materials possibly contributed by teaching staff. The role may also involve preparing materials for shorter programs within the specialist's subject domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce effective and timely lesson materials for Upper Primary programs aligned with quality assurance guidelines.
- Collaborate with senior segment and deputy heads, and other departments, to plan Schemes of Work that coordinate with the annual teaching timetable.
- Conduct research, write, revise, and prepare print or digital lesson materials, including engaging, hands-on activities, in compliance with education standards and requirements.
- Design and develop blended learning and e-learning courses alongside associated assessments consistent with the teaching model.
- Support teachers through clear reference notes, creative engagement strategies, participation in meetings, and documenting classroom best practices.
- Ensure curriculum quality by following rigorous quality assurance processes, including adhering to style guides, precise content editing, and integrating feedback from teachers and leadership.
- Handle administrative and project management duties associated with curriculum development efficiently.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Exceptional command of the English language, with a passion for reading, research, and writing.
- A genuine enthusiasm for educating children and the creativity to translate life lessons into classroom learning experiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate well within teams.
- Detail-oriented with a meticulous approach and high professional integrity.
- Self-motivated, receptive to feedback, and adaptable to changes and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills capable of managing multiple tasks and teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the aptitude to learn new educational technologies as needed.
- A university degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
- Familiarity with Singapore's Ministry of Education Primary education methods is advantageous.
