Role Overview

The Culture and Engagement Manager will report to the Senior Director of Enterprise Learning and Development and have ownership over the complete employee experience at Gifthealth. This role focuses on enhancing culture, fostering engagement and connection, and supporting retention. It entails designing, launching, and consistently elevating programs aligned with Gifthealth’s mission and values throughout the employee lifecycle—from recruitment through onboarding, community participation, ongoing engagement, and departure processes.

This position involves close collaboration with Human Resources and business teams to embed and expand culture and engagement initiatives that scale with organizational growth. A suitable candidate will combine strategic vision setting with the capability to execute high-quality programs that improve employee experience measurably.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead Gifthealth’s culture and engagement strategy, converting mission and values into impactful, scalable programs that enhance employee belonging and connection.
  • Design and implement initiatives such as employee recognition, volunteerism, philanthropy activities, belonging programs, a Culture Council, and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
  • Establish success metrics, evaluate outcomes, and continuously refine initiatives based on employee feedback and business requirements.
  • Ensure inclusivity and scalability in all culture and engagement efforts.
  • Oversee and enhance the onboarding experience to guarantee a smooth, welcoming, and value-centered introduction for new hires.
  • Work jointly with hiring managers and HR partners to integrate cultural expectations early in the hiring and onboarding journey.
  • Collaborate across departments to optimize key employee lifecycle events such as performance management, career mobility, recognition, and retention programs.
  • Utilize employee surveys, data analytics, and insights to track cultural trends, narrate the workplace story, and derive actionable employee experience enhancements.
  • Support initiatives promoting wellbeing, diversity, inclusivity, and long-term staff retention.
  • Partner with Enterprise Learning & Development to embed culture and values within onboarding, leadership programs, and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Work closely with Employee Communications to promote culture projects, share success stories, and synchronize messaging with overall communication strategies.
  • Lead culture-oriented sessions including onboarding values workshops, engagement meetings, Culture Council sessions, and ERG leadership forums.
  • Participate in multifaceted efforts to improve employee experience, culture, and operational processes.

Required Knowledge and Competencies

  • Proven track record in developing, sustaining, and scaling culture and engagement programs.
  • Ability to guide through organizational change, growth, and uncertainty.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HR areas such as employee relations, organization design, talent development, compensation, and employment law.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, engagement tools, analytics platforms, and generating reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing capabilities at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High commitment to integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Effective project and process management skills.
  • Executive presence and confidence working with senior leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload meticulously in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related disciplines.
  • Between 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in HR, employee experience, culture, or engagement, covering all stages of the employee lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated leadership of engagement, recognition, volunteer, onboarding, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Familiarity with employee engagement or survey platforms such as Culture Amp, Glint, Lattice, or Qualtrics is preferred.
  • Professional HR certification or Certified Diversity Professional credential is desirable.
  • Preferred location is Columbus, OH; candidates must be available in the East Coast time zone.

Travel and Work Environment

  • Travel is expected to be between 10% and 25%.
  • Work setting is primarily hybrid with full-time schedule and exempt status.

Physical Requirements

The role requires predominantly sedentary work (around 90%), including meetings and desk-based tasks, with 10% time spent standing or walking. Occasional movements such as bending or reaching may be necessary. Effective communication skills are essential. Occasionally lifting objects of up to 10 pounds might be required. Workplace conditions align with typical office environments with moderate noise levels.
