About the Role
This position involves supporting the decontamination of reusable invasive medical devices essential for clinicians, surgeons, nurses, midwives, and various clinical professionals performing procedures requiring such equipment. The work complies with the National Standards and HIQA Guidelines for decontamination and sterilisation in healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
The appointed operative will function as a member of a dynamic team, reporting to the CNM of the service under Peri-Operative Governance. Key duties include delivering a top-quality decontamination and sterilisation service for reusable medical instruments (RIMDs) and endoscopes. This entails collecting, cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, packing, sterilising, and returning surgical and medical instruments to their users, with each stage meticulously tracked via a computerized system aligned with HSE Central Decontamination Units standards.
The operative will collaborate closely with decontamination teams across multiple services at Wexford General Hospital and Ely Hospital.
