Job description
Role overview
Amazon’s goal is to be the most customer-focused company on earth, enabling shoppers to discover and buy anything they need online. In this role, you will help protect the quality and trustworthiness of community shopping experiences across the platform.
The Community Shopping program includes customer reviews, review videos, questions and answers, and visual shopping content. All of this content is checked against global moderation standards to safeguard marketplace integrity. The auditing function serves as the quality benchmark, reviewing both human and automated moderation outcomes across more than 20 languages and 25 marketplaces, with over 2.3 million audits completed each year.
This position requires an auditor who speaks Italian. Strong command of both Italian and English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is a major advantage.
Key responsibilities
Your work will focus on assessing moderation decisions, identifying quality gaps, and helping improve processes, guidance, and automation. You will also support calibration, reporting, and cross-functional quality initiatives.
Quality auditing
- Review a large volume of moderation decisions quickly and accurately to confirm they align with community moderation guidelines.
- Spot and record moderation mistakes, clearly separating simple errors, judgment-based calls, and more serious misses.
- Consistently meet or exceed personal targets for accuracy and productivity.
Insights and continuous improvement
- Share evidence-based observations and suggestions that help strengthen quality performance in manual and automated moderation.
- Take part in calibration discussions with partner sites so that guideline interpretation and quality expectations stay aligned.
- Carry out root cause analysis on quality patterns and contribute findings to partner support reviews and business reports.
Collaboration and guideline support
- Join auditing projects that help build, refine, and simplify moderation guidelines.
- Act as a quality assurance resource for moderation staff and management.
- Support automation investigations by supplying accurate audit data and insights to engineering teams.
- Work with training specialists to ensure quality improvements are reflected in training materials.
Day-to-day work
On a typical day, you will review queued audit samples, verify whether moderation choices match the rules, document issues with clear reasoning, and contribute to quality reporting. You may also join calibration sessions, help update guidelines, or assist with special auditing tasks such as model retraining reviews or regex checks. Close collaboration with your Team Manager and fellow auditors will be part of the role.
Team context
The Community Moderation Auditing team acts as the quality foundation for Amazon’s community shopping experience. It is a mature, high-performing team that regularly beats network quality goals. In 2025, the team reached 99.43% approval accuracy against a 98.5% target and 99.15% rejection accuracy against a 98% target, while completing more than 2.3 million audits across 20+ languages and 25+ marketplaces. The team’s work directly supports automation enhancement and guideline development and now sits within a broader quality organization that offers more cross-functional exposure and growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Matric/Grade 12/NQF4 or an equivalent or higher qualification.
- Native or fluent Italian, with excellent spoken and written English skills.
- Additional language ability is considered an important advantage.
- Strong planning and organization skills, with the ability to finish work on time and to a high standard.
- Confidence in communicating and influencing people at different levels, including internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze audit outcomes deeply and identify the underlying causes of issues.
- High attention to detail, together with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Flexibility to work according to schedule needs.
- Experience in quality assurance, content moderation auditing, or compliance is preferred.
- Comfort using Excel and other data analysis tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with moderation workflows and automation quality review is preferred.
- Experience with root cause analysis techniques is preferred.
- Additional language proficiency beyond the required languages is preferred.
Eligibility
Applications are open to candidates who meet the language and qualification requirements and who are legally allowed to work in South Africa. South African citizens from designated groups are especially encouraged to apply as part of Employment Equity considerations. Foreign nationals must be able to provide a valid identity document or passport and any required work permit.
Employment and compliance notes
Amazon is an equal opportunities employer and supports diversity and inclusion across age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, and belief. The company will verify your legal right to work in South Africa. You will need to submit a copy of your identity document or passport, plus any applicable work permit if you are not a South African citizen.
If you need workplace accommodation or an adjustment during hiring, interviewing, or onboarding, support is available through Amazon’s accommodation process.
