Overview
Ladgov Corporation is hiring a Cross-Cultural Adaptation Technician to assist the team at USAG Ansbach, supporting Army Community Service (ACS), Relocation Readiness, Information and Referral, and Outreach programs. The role operates during standard facility hours, Monday through Friday from 0730 to 1600, excluding U.S. Federal Holidays.
The selected candidate will deliver relocation support services for personnel and families in USAG Ansbach and nearby areas, including host nation orientation, cultural adaptation walking tours, translation support, and German and English as a Second Language instruction.
Key Duties
- Lead host nation orientation and walking tour activities, delivered as a 2-day program every two weeks, to help newcomers understand German customs, etiquette, traditions, and language.
- Conduct the first day as a classroom-based orientation with an instructional introduction, followed by a walking tour of Ansbach on the second day to cover local area details, cultural differences, and practical use of public transportation.
- When permitted by host nation rules regarding restaurant visits, arrange a lunch stop at a local German restaurant so participants can learn about dining customs, interpreting menus, ordering food, and tipping practices.
- Run basic conversational German sessions lasting 1 to 1.5 hours, held twice per week, with two 8-session classes offered five times per contract year.
- Teach topics such as the alphabet, numbers, colors, greetings, directions, dining out, and other foundational language skills for new learners.
- Deliver English as a Second Language classes lasting 1 to 1.5 hours once per week, with 8-session classes offered five times per contract year.
- Cover introductory English topics including the alphabet, numbers, colors, greetings, directions, dining out, and other basic language concepts.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in customer-service-focused work.
- At least 1 year of experience supporting military families or community outreach efforts.
- German language proficiency at C2 level is required.
Working Schedule
Normal operating hours are 0730-1600, Monday through Friday, with U.S. Federal Holidays excluded.
