Job overview
This full-time position is for a Biomedical Equipment Technician supporting operations at the 86th Medical Group in Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany. The role focuses on keeping medical devices safe, functional, and ready for use through inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing.
What you will do
- Carry out both planned and unplanned service work on medical devices, including inspections, routine upkeep, repairs, and performance testing.
- Examine equipment that is not functioning properly, take it apart when needed, identify faulty components, and replace or repair them.
- Perform preventive maintenance in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and service requirements.
- Assess equipment to determine whether it is fit for use and decide on its serviceability or disposal status.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance work, repairs, and equipment changes.
- Use equipment correctly and safely to reduce risk to patients and staff.
- Keep technical knowledge current by reviewing manuals and attending training as required.
Required background
- An associate degree in biomedical equipment technology, or at least 3 years of relevant hands-on experience.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Working knowledge of electronics, applicable regulations, and how to interpret technical information.
- Experience with biomedical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing.
- Comfort using computers for work-related tasks.
- Ability to perform moderate physical work, pass a color vision test, and work in different environments.
