Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and driven Criminal Lawyer to join our Sydney office on a full-time basis. This position offers a perfect platform for recent law graduates or lawyers in the early stage of their career to develop expertise in criminal law, supported by a seasoned and collaborative team.

Core Responsibilities

• Advocate for clients across a diverse array of criminal law cases including both summary and indictable offences.
• Represent clients in proceedings before the Local, District, and Children's Courts.
• Lead plea negotiations, hearings, and trials, including work in District and Supreme Courts and applications such as Section 14, licence appeals, and bail.
• Perform thorough legal research and formulate case strategies.
• Draft various legal documents including affidavits and written submissions.
• Deliver authoritative legal guidance and client representation in court.
• Collaborate with senior legal professionals on complex legal matters and trial preparation.
• Be prepared for occasional travel to regional and interstate courts.

Candidates Profile

• Recent law graduate or early-career lawyer with up to two years of post-admission experience; criminal law exposure preferred but not mandatory.
• Possession of a New South Wales practicing certificate, duly admitted to practice law in NSW.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong passion for criminal justice and commitment to equitable legal access.
• Excellent communication skills coupled with effective advocacy and negotiation capabilities.
• Well-organized with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
