Role Overview
The Crew Change Driver is entrusted with the safe and courteous transportation of seafarers among ports, airports, hotels, and medical centers. This position requires not only proficient driving but also excellent customer service, logistical coordination, and availability to operate around the clock to align with vessel and flight schedules.
Main Duties
- Drive safely and smoothly ensuring crew members’ safety under various traffic and weather situations.
- Operate manual transmission vehicles expertly, navigating diverse terrains and busy port environments.
- Strict compliance with local traffic rules, port authority policies, and company safety standards.
- Maintain the assigned vehicle in optimal condition by inspecting it daily, ensuring cleanliness and sufficient fuel.
- Keep accurate records including mileage, trip logs, and fuel receipts.
- Project a professional and welcoming presence as the company's representative to crew members.
- Assist crew with heavy luggage during boarding and disembarkation.
- Clearly inform crew about transit durations, safety procedures, and terminal processes.
- Manage sensitive scenarios with empathy, such as transporting ill or injured crew to medical facilities.
- Coordinate with Port Agency and Operations for daily schedules and any last-minute changes.
- Communicate with hotels for room availability and smooth check-ins/outs for crew.
- Provide timely status updates to ISS Operations using electronic communication platforms.
- Advise crew on port agency guidelines, local customs, and security during transfers.
- Manage time efficiently to avoid any delays affecting flight departures or vessel schedules.
- Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, public holidays to accommodate operational needs.
- Be available on-call for urgent crew changes or medical emergencies.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a valid Class B Driver’s License with an unblemished driving record.
- Demonstrable and extensive experience driving manual transmission vehicles; practical testing will be conducted.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional driving experience preferably in maritime, tourism, corporate shuttle, or hospitality fields.
- Ability to stay attentive, patient, and focused during night shifts and lengthy wait periods.
- Certified in defensive or safety driving is a significant advantage.
- Excellent coordination and time-management abilities.
- Capable of working efficiently under pressure and outside typical hours.
- Holding a Diploma in Marine Studies.
- Experience interacting with international clients or seafarers is beneficial.
