Creative Producer at City Cast Pittsburgh

About the Role

City Cast Pittsburgh is seeking a creatively driven and editorially focused Creative Producer to become a pivotal part of our local media team. In this capacity, you will shape Pittsburgh's daily conversations across our podcast, newsletter, and social media channels. The perfect candidate will have a strong passion for Pittsburgh, command confidence on the microphone, and demonstrate the ability to craft insightful and engaging editorial content. This integral position spans editorial ideation, production, writing, and on-air participation.

Primary Responsibilities

• Generate compelling, topical, and timely ideas for daily podcasts, social media, and newsletters.
• Compose the daily newsletter on assigned days, infusing it with personality, clarity, and humor relevant to the local audience.
• Collaborate with the host and Executive Producer to prepare podcast conversations you contribute to or produce.
• Edit podcast episodes utilizing Descript or comparable audio editing tools.
• Develop two to three specialized beats or subject areas to cover regularly.
• Occasionally venture into the field to record moments for social media and other platforms.
• Engage regularly as an on-mic contributor, bringing local passion and expertise to the show.
• Partner with the Host and Audience Development Manager to generate daily social media content.
• Produce advertisements to be incorporated into podcast episodes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Genuine enthusiasm and curiosity for Pittsburgh and its community.
• Strong sense of humor, ability to work well in a team, and a willingness to learn continuously.
• At least three years of experience producing and/or editing editorial content.
• Background working in environments with strict editorial deadlines.
• Exceptional writing skills characterized by a clear, engaging voice.
• Familiarity with Descript or readiness to acquire proficiency.
• Confident on-mic presence with the ability to meaningfully contribute to podcast discussions.
• Highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines efficiently in a dynamic setting.
• Bonus: Experience in video creation and editing for social media.

Benefits and Additional Information

• This position reports directly to the Executive Producer of City Cast Pittsburgh.
• Full-time role with a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience.
• Primarily remote work, with the requirement to be based locally in Pittsburgh.
