Job description

Overview

This position is based with the Missouri Circuit Courts, offering a chance to join the Missouri Judiciary by working alongside dedicated professionals. The role involves advanced duties within an electronic filing system, processing court cases and assisting in court operations with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage case processing from receiving to creating case files, including reviewing judgments and preparing legal documents such as warrants, summonses, garnishments, executions, and bond settings.
  • Examine legal documents to extract necessary filing information and determine the required procedural action in line with court rules and terminology.
  • Handle financial tasks such as receiving and disbursing funds, reconciling accounts, and generating daily and monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare court-related documents including orders, calendars, hearing notices, and coordinate document flow for court assignments; ensure proper electronic processing of filed cases.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in a related discipline or completion of 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, combined with at least one year of diverse administrative experience performing broad technical office functions.
  • Equivalent additional professional experience can substitute educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of court rules, procedures, legal documents, and relevant laws.
  • Familiarity with the structure, responsibilities, and authority scope of court operations.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time with a substantial workload amid shifting priorities and high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making aligned with court policies and objectives.
  • Competence in maintaining complex records and preparing reports through automated systems.

Work Environment and Additional Information

Employees may be exposed to potentially distressing evidence including violent or explicit imagery and materials involving syringes, drugs, weapons, and blood. Interaction with the public may involve challenging verbal or physical situations. Exposure to allergens such as perfumes and dust, as well as unpleasant odors, is possible.
