About ACEC

The Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC) was established in 2022 and is supported by a Secretariat made up of the Climate Group, the Global Wind Energy Council, and the World Resources Institute. The coalition brings together specialist knowledge, credibility, and an independent platform to help companies procure clean energy and speed up the growth of clean energy supply across Asia.

ACEC works to bring together corporate energy buyers and partners so they can drive the clean energy transition through coordinated corporate and national action. Its broader goal is to help power Asia’s economies with cleaner energy and lower emissions.

By connecting influential buyers across Asia with sellers and financiers, ACEC seeks to shape policy and regulatory change in important national and regional markets. A shared voice allows the coalition to encourage governments to adopt policies that highlight the investment, sustainability, and energy-security advantages of corporate clean energy procurement.

Through advocacy at global, regional, and local levels, ACEC promotes market reform and investment in clean energy solutions. These regulatory improvements are intended to unlock private capital, expand access to financing, and speed up deployment of clean energy across sectors while supporting climate and development objectives.

Role Overview

The Country Manager for Vietnam & Thailand will be responsible for leading ACEC’s strategy, stakeholder engagement, and market development work in both countries. The role supports the organization’s clean energy and climate goals across the region and requires strong understanding of the energy policy environment, corporate clean energy procurement landscape, and the wider business and regulatory context in Vietnam and Thailand.

This person will act as ACEC’s main representative in the two markets, building strategic relationships with government bodies, regulators, business leaders, corporate partners, embassies, and other important stakeholders. The position focuses on policy advocacy, partnerships, market intelligence, and in-country initiatives that advance ACEC’s mission and regional priorities.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, externally oriented leader who can spot opportunities, manage complex relationships, and deliver cross-functional work in a fast-moving environment. They will oversee programs and working groups focused on Vietnam and Thailand, coordinate with internal regional and global teams, and ensure local activities align with ACEC’s wider goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and drive ACEC’s country-level strategy and engagement agenda for Vietnam and Thailand.
• Act as the organization’s lead representative in meetings and discussions with government, industry, and other stakeholders in both countries.
• Create and implement strategic plans that reflect ACEC’s regional priorities and the local policy and market environment.
• Develop strong senior-level relationships with policymakers, regulators, corporate partners, embassies, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Lead advocacy and outreach efforts on clean energy, climate, infrastructure, and corporate energy procurement policy topics.
• Track energy, infrastructure, and climate policy changes and market movements in Vietnam, Thailand, and wider Asian markets, then translate them into practical recommendations.
• Prepare well-researched policy briefs, market intelligence documents, and strategic analysis reports.
• Spot and pursue partnerships, funding opportunities, and business development prospects that can expand ACEC’s impact in Vietnam and Thailand.
• Lead the Vietnam & Thailand Working Group, including planning agendas, coordinating stakeholders, preparing presentations, facilitating meetings, and ensuring follow-through.
• Build collaboration systems with local and regional partners to support policy alignment and joint engagement.
• Help organize stakeholder consultations, industry dialogues, workshops, and networking events.
• Work with internal teams and external partners on regional initiatives, policy development, and strategic advocacy campaigns.
• Collect and interpret market intelligence to support planning and organizational decisions.
• Maintain clear coordination between country activities and ACEC’s regional and global leadership teams.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in Public Policy, Energy, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Fluency in English and either Vietnamese or Thai is mandatory.
• Good understanding of corporate clean energy procurement and the regulatory environment in Vietnam and Thailand; experience in energy policy is a strong advantage.
• Comfort working both independently and as part of a distributed remote team.
• Demonstrated ability to draft detailed policy summaries and reports.
• Background in building networks with regulators and other key stakeholders.

Additional Information

This is a fully remote role, but occasional travel will be needed. Candidates must be based in Vietnam or Thailand.
