In Thailand, NEX focuses on bolstering the nation’s clean energy innovation scene by backing climate tech startups, enhancing workforce capabilities, fostering strategic collaborations, and developing initiatives that promote Thailand’s transition toward a low-carbon future.

Role Overview

The Country Director position calls for an entrepreneurial and visionary leader to elevate Thailand as a top-tier clean energy innovation hub in Asia and to fortify NEX Thailand’s position within the global NEX network. This role encapsulates defining and driving the vision, strategy, growth, financial sustainability, organizational development, ecosystem influence, and regional collaborations.

Working closely with government bodies, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, development partners, and the global NEX community, the Country Director will cultivate a high-performing organization esteemed as a key partner in Thailand’s clean energy transformation. The Director will spearhead strategy, fundraising, leadership, and ecosystem building, while growing and strengthening the NEX Thailand team for the organization’s next growth phase.

Core Responsibilities

  • Shape and implement a multi-year, focused strategy to solidify NEX Thailand’s leadership in clean energy innovation.
  • Detect emerging market trends, technologies, and ecosystem opportunities where NEX can have a meaningful impact.
  • Define areas where NEX should concentrate efforts to generate distinctive value and effect measurable change.
  • Convert strategic goals into concrete annual plans, priorities, projects, and partnership endeavors.
  • Build and sustain a diverse pipeline of funding from government, corporations, foundations, multilateral agencies, and philanthropy.
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships to drive organizational expansion and lasting influence.
  • Lead grant proposal development, funding negotiations, and cultivate partner relations.
  • Oversee budget, financial planning, and organizational metrics for P&L accountability.
  • Develop and manage a collaborative, high-achieving team ensuring impactful program delivery.
  • Assess team capabilities and plan growth to meet strategic demands.
  • Nurture team members as credible external representatives and emerging leaders.
  • Promote an inclusive workplace culture focused on learning, ambition, accountability, and care.
  • Manage portfolio programs including startup acceleration, commercialization, workforce development, and ecosystem initiatives driven by market and stakeholder feedback.
  • Establish long-term program platforms and organizational capabilities for sustainable development.
  • Implement systems for impact measurement, learning, and reporting to enhance programs and resource allocation.
  • Support ideation and deployment of new initiatives that advance entrepreneur success and ecosystem outcomes.
  • Define organizational governance, roles, decision-making protocols, and management practices promoting transparency, accountability, collaboration, and autonomy.
  • Lead legal entity setup, governance adherence, and operational systems compliance with local laws and global policies.
  • Manage financial, legal compliance, and organizational risk frameworks.
  • Improve operational systems to enable sustainable growth.
  • Represent NEX Thailand in regional and international forums as an ambassador, speaker, mentor, and thought leader.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the global NEX network to support cross-country initiatives and partnerships.
  • Establish NEX Thailand’s prominence as a reliable and insightful contributor to the nation’s clean energy transition.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

  • Passionate advocate for accelerating Thailand’s clean energy transformation.
  • Entrepreneurial leader comfortable with change, uncertainty, and applies a continuous growth mindset.
  • Adept at engaging diverse sectors including government, industry, startups, investors, and international organizations.
  • Skilled in converting long-term strategy into tangible organizational growth and impact.
  • Systems thinker connecting entrepreneurs, markets, policies, and partnerships with strategic and commercial perspectives.
  • Collaborative, relationship-driven with strong cross-cultural leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Clean Energy, Entrepreneurship, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of increasing leadership responsibility within clean energy, innovation, entrepreneurship, or related sectors.
  • Proven track record of building teams, leading organizations, business units, or innovation platforms.
  • Successful experience with fundraising, cultivating strategic partnerships, and business development.
  • In-depth knowledge of clean energy markets, technologies, and innovation ecosystems.
  • Experienced in engaging senior officials, executives, investors, and international collaborators in Thailand.
  • Strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams with proven development skills.
  • Competent in financial, operational, and organizational management.
  • Excellent communication abilities in Thai and English, both written and oral.
  • Ability to strategically think while effectively executing in dynamic, entrepreneurial settings.
  • Additional beneficial experience includes involvement in clean energy entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, startup acceleration, venture capital, public-private partnerships, donor-funded programs, Southeast Asian regional leadership, and managing organizational growth and complexity.
