Counter Pro - Automotive Parts Sales Specialist

Overview

Key Duties

• Provide exceptional service to both commercial and DIY customers by diagnosing automotive issues and advising on suitable solutions.
• Source parts via various channels including stores, hubs, distribution centers, and external suppliers, while developing a network of secondary sources for special orders.
• Maintain organized and professional showroom spaces and work areas in alignment with store operations standards.
• Manage daily inventory activities, including discrepancy checks, stock placement, returns processing, and assist with cycle counts and annual inventories.
• Perform specialty tasks such as paint mixing, hydraulic hose making, battery testing, and installing wipers.
• Collaborate with the Store Manager to coordinate delivery drivers ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
• Deliver parts safely using company vehicles to commercial clients when required.
• Assume key holder responsibilities including opening/closing the store and ensuring workplace safety, plus performing additional duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade experience considered an asset.
• Minimum 2–3 years of automotive sales experience demonstrating strong customer service and sales achievement.
• Advanced knowledge of automotive systems, parts inventory, and proficiency with POS systems enabling complex problem resolution and customer support.
• Understanding of store operations including inventory management and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety protocols, parts catalogs, and manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; English required, French or bilingual capabilities advantageous.
• Competent in basic mathematics with accuracy.
• Physical capability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record, and exhibit proficient driving and navigation skills.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Typical activities involve walking or standing for extended periods and manual dexterity to handle various automotive parts and tools. Vision requirements include near and distance vision, color perception, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Exposure to moderate noise levels and occasional contact with caustic chemicals apply in a retail environment.
