Job description

Role overview

This position focuses on examining reports of internal theft, vandalism, fraud, suspicious conduct, and policy breaches. Working under the direction of the GI Regional Manager, the Corporate Investigator uses technology, analysis, interviewing, and assessment methods to help protect people, information, and company assets.

The work typically covers moderate to complex investigations. For sensitive or high-profile matters, the role partners with senior investigators and the GI Regional Manager. The investigator also supports local stakeholders across global regions and is expected to contribute to ongoing process improvement, innovation, and shared risk management.

Key responsibilities

  • Review CCTV footage, access control records, and other relevant data to understand incidents, identify patterns, determine likely causes, locate evidence, and help establish who may have been involved.
  • Manage several investigations at once, balancing overlapping deadlines and priorities, and escalate more complex matters to the GI Regional Manager when needed.
  • Gather, record, and safeguard video, still images, documents, and other investigation materials throughout the case workflow and adjudication process.
  • Interview victims, witnesses, and persons of interest using established corporate investigation techniques, with support from senior team members for more sensitive interviews.
  • Investigate threats from external parties as well as internal matters such as theft of client property or intellectual property and vandalism across the business.
  • Use a structured case management process and tracking system to close investigations, study trends, identify root causes, reduce loss, and support changes that prevent repeat incidents.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and speaking, show strong interpersonal awareness, and use calm, non-threatening, open-ended questioning to help people recall events accurately.
  • Take part in training and mentoring, request feedback from senior colleagues, and share knowledge with peers as skills grow.
  • Work with both automated and manual tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat DC, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, Microsoft Word, Lenel, Microsoft Outlook, and a cloud-based case management platform.
  • Help prepare and release case management metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in corporate investigations, law enforcement, security operations, incident management, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience handling corporate, product, and/or vendor investigations of increasing complexity.
  • Strong investigative and analytical ability in a corporate high-tech setting, including CCTV review and preservation, understanding of chain of custody, and knowledge of investigation methods.
  • Experience applying traditional investigative practices, interviewing skills, and technology in investigations.
  • Willingness to learn new approaches to familiar problems and situations.
  • Experience using a range of software tools, including open-source databases, web browsers, remote desktop tools, and SharePoint.

  • Strong influencing ability and a results-oriented mindset in a fast-paced environment.
