Role Overview

Blackpeak Capital is a Sydney-based independent corporate advisory boutique that advises clients across technology, financial services, industrials, agriculture and natural resources. The firm focuses on objective corporate finance advice spanning mergers and acquisitions as well as private and public capital raisings. It has also launched a principal investment initiative targeting growth-stage technology opportunities. Due to continued business expansion, the firm is looking to bring on a Corporate Finance and Investment Analyst.

What You Will Do

You will join a compact and expanding team and take part in transactions from early-stage origination through to completion. Working closely with experienced principals, your responsibilities will vary by deal but will typically include financial analysis, transaction support and client communication.

• Build and maintain financial models
• Perform valuation and benchmarking analysis
• Carry out company and industry research
• Help prepare client-facing materials such as board papers, information memorandums, prospectuses, investor decks and related transaction documents
• Support transaction execution, including coordination of due diligence activities
• Communicate with clients as needed throughout the deal process

Who They Are Looking For

The company is open to a strong recent graduate or a candidate with prior exposure to corporate finance, transaction services or valuations, ideally from a Big 4 accounting environment. A solid understanding of accounting is important. Applications may also be considered from candidates with experience in in-house M&A, investment banking, boutique advisory or private equity / venture capital settings.

Successful applicants should bring strong technical ability, good interpersonal skills, energy and enthusiasm. The role suits someone who can work independently and is comfortable in a small, fast-moving, growth-oriented team.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification with strong academic performance
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including confidence interacting with senior stakeholders
• Strong numerical ability and hands-on financial modelling experience
• Genuine interest in financial markets and investment banking
• Advanced MS Office capability, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Exposure to Capital IQ and Mergermarket would be helpful, though not mandatory
• Self-starter with strong initiative and teamwork skills
• Careful attention to detail and the ability to manage several priorities at once
• Strong research and analytical capability
