About Branch
Branch builds AI-enhanced linking and attribution tools that help businesses measure growth across every customer touchpoint. Its platform is used by well-known brands to improve conversion, strengthen ROI, reduce wasted ad spend, and connect fragmented attribution data.
The company emphasizes ownership, speed, collaboration, and accountability. It values people who are humble, smart, and focused on driving outcomes while helping build a business that has real impact. Branch is in a major growth phase, operating at the scale of a market leader while still offering the opportunity to make a direct difference.
Branch is headquartered in Mountain View, CA and offers a hybrid setup, with flexibility for certain candidates in select locations including California, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Washington, and New York.
Role Overview
Branch is looking for a Controller to lead its global accounting organization. Reporting to the Head of Global Finance & Accounting, this person will be the most senior accounting leader in the company and will oversee a team of more than eight people across several accounting functions.
This is a highly autonomous position for someone who can own the accuracy of the financial statements, manage the close cycle, strengthen controls, and build scalable accounting operations that support continued growth. The role requires both hands-on execution and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the full accounting function end to end, including the general ledger, monthly and quarterly close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Lead and coach a team of 8+ people through team leads, setting expectations, building accountability, and developing future leaders.
- Act as the internal expert on US GAAP, technical accounting, and revenue recognition, including documenting and applying complex accounting positions.
- Own the external audit process, coordinate tax compliance and provisions with outside partners, and maintain a strong control environment with SOX readiness in mind.
- Produce accurate financial reporting and reconciliations that support leadership decision-making.
- Oversee accounting systems and ERP improvements, and continuously enhance close processes, automation, and internal controls.
- Work closely with the Head of Global Finance & Accounting and cross-functional teams to turn accounting issues into practical business guidance.
- Lead responsible adoption of AI tools inside the accounting team to improve close efficiency, reconciliation quality, reporting, and everyday workflows.
What You Bring
- At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with substantial leadership experience managing managers or team leads.
- Background in AdTech, MarTech, or digital publishing/media, with familiarity in advertising-driven revenue and billing models.
- Experience handling accounting for a global, multi-entity business, including consolidation, intercompany activity, and multi-currency operations.
- Strong audit experience, including ownership of the full close cycle and external audit coordination for a growing company.
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting, especially revenue recognition.
- Hands-on experience scaling accounting processes, controls, and ERP systems in a fast-growing environment.
- Proven ability to operate independently and deliver results without close supervision.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and develop talent.
- Comfort using AI in accounting workflows and guiding teams on thoughtful, responsible AI adoption.
- An active CPA license.
Preferred Background
- Prior experience in a Big 4 public accounting environment.
- Experience working for a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
- Exposure to SOX compliance or public-company readiness work.
Success in the First 6–12 Months
Success in this role means taking full ownership of the close, improving its reliability and cadence, building strong relationships with audit and tax partners, completing a clean audit cycle, reinforcing the control environment, and helping team leads grow while identifying process improvements, including AI-enabled opportunities.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this role is $250,000 to $320,000 in Mountain View, CA. Compensation for candidates in other locations will vary based on geography and individual qualifications. Equity may be available for qualifying positions. Branch also offers a comprehensive benefits package that can include health and wellness programs, paid time off, and retirement planning options for eligible employees.
Location and Work Arrangement
This role is based in Mountain View, CA and follows a hybrid schedule. Branch is also open to hybrid candidates in Mountain View, CA or Austin, TX, and fully remote candidates in select states, including Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Washington, New York, and California.
