Job description

Role overview

Launceston Airport is seeking an accomplished Corporate Affairs Manager to join the Office of the CEO. This is a high-visibility position that works directly with the CEO and senior leaders to influence how the airport communicates with government, the media, key stakeholders and the wider community. The role is central to protecting and enhancing the airport’s reputation while supporting strategic communications and external relationships.

What you will do

  • Shape and lead the airport’s government relations, media approach and stakeholder engagement plan in support of organisational goals.
  • Create and deliver corporate communication strategies covering both internal and external messaging.
  • Advise the CEO and leadership group on matters related to reputation, regulation and stakeholder management.
  • Handle media relationships and serve as the main contact for media enquiries.
  • Track emerging policy, regulatory and industry developments and respond appropriately.
  • Prepare polished briefs, submissions, speeches and other communication materials.
  • Lead communications during crises and issues to safeguard and strengthen the airport’s standing.
  • Develop enduring relationships with government bodies, industry partners, media and community stakeholders.
  • Work with internal teams and Melbourne Airport colleagues to ensure messaging and positioning remain aligned.

What the company is looking for

The ideal candidate brings experience across corporate affairs, communications, media or public policy, along with a strong foundation in government relations, advocacy or stakeholder engagement. You should be confident writing and communicating complex ideas in a clear, compelling way, and able to operate effectively in a regulated, demanding or fast-moving environment. The role also calls for the ability to influence senior stakeholders, build trust across varied groups, and understand the media, political and regulatory landscape. Experience in crisis communications and issue management would be an advantage. A proactive, strategic approach that balances big-picture thinking with practical delivery is important.
