Role Overview

This on-site Cook position in Accra is a hands-on kitchen role focused on meal preparation, presentation, and day-to-day kitchen coordination. The successful candidate will help keep the kitchen running smoothly, follow hygiene and safety practices, plan menus based on guest preferences, and ensure meals are prepared to a high standard throughout each service period.

Key Duties

  • Prepare and plate meals in line with the guesthouse’s quality standards.
  • Take charge of the kitchen’s daily workflow and support smooth operations during service.
  • Design and adjust menus to suit guest expectations and dietary needs.
  • Handle food preparation tasks and follow recipe instructions accurately.
  • Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and organize food storage properly.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety procedures at all times.
  • Work closely with other kitchen team members to maintain efficient service.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Practical experience with cooking methods, food preparation, and menu planning.
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, and food safety rules.
  • Ability to organize supplies, track inventory, and manage food storage effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with kitchen staff.
  • Adaptability to handle guest preferences and changing dietary requirements.
  • Prior work in a kitchen or culinary setting is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of both local and international dishes is beneficial.
  • Secondary school education or equivalent; culinary training or certification is an added benefit.
