Role overview
This position is for a Category Manager who will own core consumables selection and pricing strategy while helping Amazon grow into newer direct-to-consumer (D2C) categories. The role is focused on building and scaling new business lines in consumables and beauty, strengthening seller partnerships, and improving overall category performance.
What you will do
- Develop and execute plans to discover, onboard, and support promising D2C brands in the consumables and beauty spaces.
- Create launch plans for new verticals and ensure they fit smoothly into Amazon’s existing operating model.
- Design seller enablement programs that improve growth, category quality, and long-term performance.
- Build practical solutions that help emerging D2C brands grow faster.
- Form strong working relationships with important sellers and industry partners.
- Set up scalable systems that improve seller performance and business development outcomes.
- Work with leaders across functions to gather input, align priorities, and reach clear decisions.
- Drive joint decision-making around selection and pricing strategy.
- Prepare and present recommendations for senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Support seller success initiatives across the organization.
- Track market movement and competitor actions to identify demand patterns and growth opportunities.
- Use data-led analysis to recommend selection and pricing actions.
- Build strong frameworks for collecting, checking, and using stakeholder input.
- Establish the right operating structure for selection and pricing decisions.
- Coordinate with internal teams to put selection and pricing plans into action.
- Improve cataloguing practices so customers can make better purchase decisions.
Qualifications and experience
The role calls for a master’s degree in business, product management, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should have a background in program management in collaborative settings, strong analytical ability, and the communication and interpersonal skills needed to work with multiple stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
Basic qualifications
- At least 3 years of Excel experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in retail, operations, product management, program management, or business management/consulting, including negotiation and result delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree, or at least 3 years of professional or military experience.
- Experience in financial analysis and ownership of P&L.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working with large datasets to improve performance and streamline processes.
- Background in vendor negotiation, pricing and promotions, inventory management, and product development.
