Job description
Role overview
This contract opportunity is with a large-volume contracting, support, and compliance team based in Chatham, Ontario. The role centers on preparing agreements for distribution and direct purchase markets and offers exposure to several related business areas, including industrial market development, legal, gas management, billing, accounts payable, and regulatory functions.
The team environment is described as dynamic and innovative, with a focus on collaboration and delivering results.
Location and work arrangement
Chatham, ON. The position follows a hybrid setup: on-site work on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with remote work on Wednesday and Friday.
This opening is for an existing vacancy.
Key responsibilities
The Contracting Analyst will support customer-facing inquiries, contract preparation, reporting, and process improvement activities. The role requires strong coordination across departments and careful handling of contract records and related documentation.
Customer support and issue resolution
You will respond to customer questions and requests related to distribution and direct purchase agreements, policies, billing, and gas management. This includes researching concerns, coordinating with relevant teams, resolving issues through systems such as Enerline, ConTrax, SAP, and other tools, and escalating unresolved matters when needed.
Contract administration
The position involves reviewing contract information, assembling the correct contract packages for both distribution and direct purchase markets, and tracking packages through approval, delivery, and customer execution. You will also maintain secure storage and retrieval processes for records, correspondence, and documents, while documenting issues clearly and communicating with all parties involved.
Process and reporting duties
Additional work includes identifying opportunities to improve processes, supporting system testing and change approvals under standard change management practices, and preparing and reviewing WEBi reports to assist with contract-related inquiries.
Qualifications
A background in Business, Finance, Math, or Economics is required, along with at least 2 years of work experience. The role calls for strong computer literacy, including MS Office, plus familiarity with databases, query tools, and general business software.
You should be able to manage several assignments at different stages at the same time, maintain a high level of accuracy, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. The position also requires a solid grasp of the distribution and direct purchase business, or the ability to learn it quickly, so that analytical, investigative, and reporting tasks can be completed effectively within a regulated environment.
Strong interpersonal abilities are important, including the capacity to influence others and negotiate. Professional conduct, clear communication, teamwork, time management, organization, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are also essential.
Preferred background
Helpful additional experience includes contract administration, customer billing, or financial systems. Familiarity with ConTrax, Enerline, SAP CIS, WEBi, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, and Word is preferred, along with knowledge of large-volume contract language and pricing structures.
Experience in front-line customer service or contact handling, as well as exposure to the natural gas or utilities sector, would be an advantage.
