Program Overview
KBR provides ongoing operational support services for the United States Air Force through its AFCAP V group. This position is based in Doha, Qatar, with travel expected across locations in the Middle East.
Role Summary
The Large Area Maintenance Shelter (LAMS) Specialist is tasked with the installation, upkeep, operation, inspection, and dismantling of large maintenance shelters.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, install, operate, maintain, repair, and dispose of LAMS/BEAR shelters and associated systems.
- Interpret and execute instructions as detailed in manufacturer operation and maintenance manuals.
- Provide leadership and supervision as needed, coordinating personnel, equipment, and materials for shelter-related tasks.
- Erect, maintain, and dismantle shelters ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Manage inventory, care, and storage of tools and equipment relevant to shelter operations.
- Offer technical support and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure shelter efficiency.
- Enforce adherence to safety protocols to safeguard team members and equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, equipment status, and incidents, reporting to supervisors as required.
- Perform cleanup, tool maintenance, and other related duties.
- Tasks may involve moderate to heavy lifting.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work occurs indoors and outdoors, exposing personnel to temperature extremes, dust, noise, and chemicals.
- May require overtime, shift work, and frequent travel depending on mission requirements.
- Physical activities include lifting up to 35 lbs individually, team lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, extended periods of sitting or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending.
- Use of protective gear such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, hearing and eye protection, and individual protective equipment including ballistic armor is mandatory.
- Job demands moderate physical exertion including navigating operational areas and stairways.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least ten years’ experience in related work, with 3-5 years in leadership or supervisory roles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Must be a U.S. citizen holding a valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Possess a passport with minimum 13 months validity and at least six blank visa/stamp pages.
- Maintain an active U.S. SECRET security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified or advanced training related to maintenance and repair of large area shelters or similar structures.
- Military experience in contingent environments and familiarity with government contracting.
Skills and Competencies

- Ability to work extended hours as mission demands.
- Expertise in LAMS setup, maintenance, and repair.
- Capable of conducting asset inventories and reporting accurately.
