Job description
Position Overview
Clark Construction Company seeks a skilled Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects in Northern Michigan. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers to direct daily site operations, coordinating multiple trade contractors to ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and meets quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors ensuring alignment with project plans, specifications, and timelines.
- Develop field priorities, execution plans, and maintain proactive scheduling to meet milestones.
- Supervise daily site activities effectively leading subcontractors, suppliers, and labor teams.
- Enforce safety policies rigorously, halting work when hazards arise to maintain accident prevention.
- Monitor adherence to quality standards and safety protocols, identifying and correcting any deviations quickly.
- Keep detailed records including daily logs, inspections, change notices, and material tracking documentation.
- Evaluate subcontractor pay requests and change orders to control costs and ensure budget compliance.
- Communicate project progress and upcoming tasks during site meetings with stakeholders and owners.
- Oversee material deliveries, inspecting and properly storing equipment and supplies on site.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or closely related discipline preferred.
- Proven ability to independently handle multiple projects and tasks within fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational abilities and experience implementing efficient processes and workflows.
- Solid knowledge of construction and engineering operations with adaptability to new tools and methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management software, data automation tools, and business applications such as Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Work Location and Ideal Candidates
Positions are based in Northern Michigan; candidates residing near Petosky, Traverse City, Charlevoix, Gaylord, Alpena, Cheboygan, or nearby areas are highly desired.
