Job description
Position Overview
We are actively seeking experienced Superintendents to lead field operations for commercial construction initiatives across Northern Michigan. This role requires close collaboration with Project Managers to oversee daily site activities, directing trade contractors to ensure safe, efficient work execution that meets high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate subcontractors on-site, ensuring all work aligns with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Develop and manage field priorities and execution strategies while maintaining detailed look-ahead schedules to achieve milestones.
- Supervise daily site operations, effectively managing subcontractors, suppliers, and labor crews.
- Uphold strict safety protocols by enforcing standards, intervening when necessary to prevent incidents.
- Monitor quality and compliance with safety, quality plans, and specifications; promptly address any discrepancies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation such as daily reports, quality checks, change notices, and materials logs.
- Control costs by reviewing subcontractor payment requests and evaluating change orders for their impact on budgets and scopes.
- Communicate project progress and schedules with owners and stakeholders through site meetings.
- Manage materials and equipment by tracking deliveries, conducting inspections, and ensuring proper storage and care on-site.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or similar field preferred.
- Demonstrated capability to independently juggle multiple projects in a dynamic workplace.
- Strong organizational skills and experience implementing efficient processes and workflows.
- In-depth knowledge of construction and engineering operations with flexibility to adapt to new tools and methods.
- Competency in project management and business software, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Excellent communication abilities, fostering collaboration across diverse teams and organizational levels.
