Job Overview

Under the guidance of Senior Project Managers, the Project Engineer collaborates across divisions to support Hunt Companies' construction activities. The role primarily involves aiding in the planning, oversight, and documentation of construction projects spanning various scales. Key responsibilities cover pre-construction coordination, onsite management, third-party inspections, as well as project close-out procedures. Sound judgment, discretion, and policy implementation are essential for managing a diverse set of office and field tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, overseeing, and managing all phases of multiple construction projects—from initiation through closure—following company methodologies.
  • Help verify and monitor contractors' work and project completion against defined scope, schedule, and budget plans.
  • Participate in resource allocation, progress reporting, contractor coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Track project progress and contractor performance, while monitoring schedule changes, cost changes, and resource implications.
  • Ensure timely delivery and installation of materials and equipment per approved specifications and submittals.
  • Critically analyze and support field and office teams regarding submittals, shop drawings, and project plans/specifications.
  • Assist Senior Project Managers with quality assurance through onsite verification and documentation of completed work.
  • Report accurate, timely status updates to leadership.
  • Promote and support health, safety, and environmental policies and programs on site.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Contribute to preparation of project reports and assist in resolving onsite problems and making recommendations.
  • Support RFP process management, including proposal creation and development.
  • Coordinate and monitor requests for information (RFIs), ASIs, and indirect cost documentation procedures.
  • Assist in managing contract bonds, insurance, payment applications, correspondence, and change order processes.
  • Interpret and comment on construction documents and contract specifications as needed.
  • Travel to project sites within the Hunt portfolio on short notice when required, including military installations.
  • Obtain necessary security clearances for access to military project locations.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED with relevant construction experience.
  • Preferred: 1 to 3 years of experience in construction, development, or engineering with familiarity in project management and construction procedures.
  • Self-driven team player with keen attention to detail, strong organizational and communication capabilities, able to work independently and prioritize duties effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize construction plans and specifications for large-scale developments.
  • Excellent time management skills and proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position generally falls between 68600 to 85600 annually, excluding fringe benefits and bonuses. A performance bonus is also possible. Salary offers consider factors such as location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and experience to ensure equitable pay.
