Job Overview
We are actively seeking a Concrete Plant Batching Operative to join our dedicated team at Clashmore Quarry. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our concrete batching facilities.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate the concrete batching plant to produce various types of ready-mix concrete according to specifications.
- Adhere strictly to all company Safety, Health, and Environmental procedures and policies.
- Manage incoming orders and schedule daily lorry loads.
- Coordinate with central dispatch and mixer haulage teams to manage deliveries and load sequencing.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of raw materials, including cement, sand, aggregates, and admixtures.
- Ensure the plant is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next shift after each operation.
- Maintain all safety-specific equipment, ensuring operational readiness, particularly focusing on isolation, lockouts, captive keys, and plant guarding.
- Uphold QSRMC standards, maintaining accurate records and implementing necessary actions.
- Conduct regular, recorded plant maintenance and safety inspections, scheduling preventative maintenance and promptly reporting any issues to management.
- Perform regular checks and servicing of calibration equipment, identifying potential problems.
- Support management in scheduling planned and routine maintenance activities.
- Process purchase orders for necessary plant supplies and services in accordance with company purchasing procedures.
- Actively participate in quality, safety, and environmental audits conducted by internal and external bodies.
- Assist in the safe management of employees and subcontractors, including conducting inductions and issuing safe work systems and risk assessments.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, maintaining precise documentation for stock control and inspections.
- Embody and uphold the company's values and culture.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the role.
Requirements
- Prior experience in batching concrete using wet mix and/or dry batch plants.
- Demonstrated knowledge of concrete types, specifications, and their applications.
- Proficiency in managing plant, tools, equipment, and machinery, including maintenance and inspection procedures.
- Experience operating concrete mixer trucks.
- A valid driving license is essential for fulfilling the role's duties.
- Experience in stock control and inventory management.
