Introduction

Job Overview

This role is based at the Maryland State Police, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, located at 6855 Deerpath Road, Suite G, Elkridge, MD 21075. The main objective is to keep updated on all Automated Roadside Inspection programs and relevant systems, including legacy and contemporary software. The person in this role must stay informed about federal Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) inspection policies and software applications, maintain communication channels within multiple agencies, resolve software conflicts, and oversee system updates. Responsibilities also include managing data quality and ensuring timely communication and workflow related to inspections and certifications.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with personnel from various agencies including CVED, MSP, MDTAP, SHA, and allied bodies.
  • Plan, install, integrate, and maintain computer systems and laptop operations related to inspection software and programs.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating mandatory software on computers and laptops, including those related to inspections.
  • Manage daily communications via email, fax, and mail concerning inspection certifications to prevent backlog.
  • Review and process DataQ program appeals addressing discrepancies from carriers, drivers, and third parties regularly.
  • Use designated email communications for correspondence with carriers about inspection reports.
  • Support training teams with account management and user status updates.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in evaluating, implementing, and maintaining personal computer hardware and software.

Substitutions for experience and education include relevant help desk experience, computer applications college credits, computer repair certifications such as Microsoft A+, or qualifying military service in IT fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with inspection-related software and applications including SafeSpect, FMCSA Portal, AIM, MOTUS, ELD, Guard, Excel, and Google Drive.
  • Competence in installing, configuring, and updating computer software systems.

Additional Requirements

  • This position may require initial drug screening, a full criminal background check, and a polygraph examination.
  • Ongoing substance abuse testing in accordance with Maryland regulations may be required.

Selection and Examination Process

Applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be evaluated based on education, training, and experience. A qualifications supplement or application review will determine the rating. Eligibility lists will be maintained for one year for possible hiring consideration.
