Position Overview
The Community Relations Officer will be based in Bopulu, Gbarpolu County, Liberia, playing a pivotal role in managing customer service within designated communities. This role supports various departments including market development, operations, engineering, construction, and support teams to extend electrification services to over 100,000 customers across African countries within five years. The main aim is to provide superior solar mini-grid solutions that illuminate homes and empower communities by improving health services, education, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure prompt and efficient customer service delivery, addressing issues effectively and maintaining accessibility.
- Build and nurture strong customer relationships to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
- Implement and manage revenue collection strategies to minimize payment delays.
- Supervise local distributors to ensure achievement of performance targets, including providing training and guidance.
- Promote company services to increase community awareness and utilization.
- Educate the community on maximizing benefits afforded by the company’s services.
- Engage actively with local communities and stakeholders to identify and enroll new customers, expanding the company’s reach.
- Perform additional duties as delegated by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum diploma or bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Management, or related fields from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 to 3 years of substantive experience in revenue collection, distributor oversight, service marketing, customer education, and community engagement, preferably within solar off-grid or rural electrification sectors.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with diverse groups including community members and partner organizations.
- Commitment to safety, integrity, and environmental stewardship in daily operations.
- Flexibility to undertake frequent travel to rural locations and operate under resource-limited, challenging conditions.
- Fluency in English mandatory; familiarity with local Sierra Leone languages is advantageous.
- Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in multicultural work environments.
- Ability to perform independently and collaboratively within teams, managing stress and adapting to local cultures.
