About the Role

The Ritz Carlton in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Commis 1 to join their Steak House culinary team. The role involves preparing specialty meals, managing cooking equipment temperatures, and ensuring food quality, presentation, and proper portioning according to established standards. Responsibilities also include thawing food items, maintaining food logs, and coordinating with both kitchen and service staff regarding menu specials and inventory status.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items following recipes and quality guidelines.
• Manage oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures to ensure proper cooking.
• Thaw frozen foods appropriately in refrigerators before use.
• Ensure correct portion sizes, food presentation, and garnishing.
• Keep accurate records of food preparation and consumption.
• Communicate efficiently during busy periods requesting assistance as needed.
• Advise chefs about surplus food for daily specials and notify service staff of special menus or unavailable items.
• Prepare cold dishes as required.
• Support management in hiring, staff training, scheduling, evaluations, and coaching, acting as a role model for the kitchen team.
• Adhere to company policies including safety, security, grooming, and confidentiality.
• Report any safety hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues promptly.
• Maintain professional relationships, encourage teamwork, and assist in meeting collective goals.
• Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and bending.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Technical, Trade, or Vocational School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related culinary role.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No licenses or certifications are mandatory.
